1. Hike Mount Batur for Sunrise

Hiking Mount Batur for sunrise was one of the most unforgettable experiences we had in Bali. The hike is about 3–5 kilometers (2–3 miles) round trip. It’s a moderate hike, so you don’t need to worry if you’re not super fit. We booked a tour through GetYourGuide, and the guide made the trek so much easier.

Watching the sun rise from the top was absolutely magical, with golden rays lighting up the island. If you love adventure and want to witness this breathtaking viewpoint, this is a must-do! Don’t forget to pack warm clothes—it gets chilly before the sun comes up.

2. Chase Stunning Waterfalls

Waterfalls in Bali are simply magical, and Tibumana Waterfall was our favorite. It felt like a hidden paradise, surrounded by lush greenery and far from the crowds. The peaceful vibe here made it the perfect spot to relax and connect with nature. Just a 45-minute drive from Ubud, the road is easy to navigate with Google Maps. Entry fees range from $2 to $3, so be sure to carry cash with you.

Tegenungan Waterfall is another beautiful spot and one of the most popular in Bali. We found it breathtaking, but it can get crowded. If you plan to visit, go early in the morning for the best experience. Both waterfalls are worth exploring, but Tibumana stole our hearts!

3. Learn to Surf or Ride the Waves

Surfing in Bali is a must-do! Canggu is a great spot for beginners. The waves are gentle, and there are plenty of instructors to guide you. If you’ve always wanted to try surfing, this is the place to be.

For those with more experience, Uluwatu is ideal. The waves are bigger and more challenging. Bali’s warm waters and consistent waves make it a surfer’s paradise.

Even if you’re just watching, the vibe at these beaches is amazing. Whether you’re surfing or enjoying the view, Bali’s beaches never disappoint!

4. Explore Bali’s Temples

Bali’s temples are a blend of stunning architecture and rich history. A visit to these spiritual sites is a must to experience the island’s culture.

  • Lempuyang Temple: Known as the “Gates of Heaven,” this temple offers stunning views of Mount Agung. It’s a 3-hour drive from Ubud, so arrive early to avoid the crowds and snap your Instagram-worthy photo.

  •  Ulun Danu Beratan Temple: Located on the shores of Lake Bratan, this temple has a mystical vibe, especially when mist rolls in. It feels like you’re stepping into a dream. It’s about an hour’s drive from Ubud.

  • Uluwatu Temple: This temple sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It’s known for its stunning views and its spiritual energy. In the evening, we watched the Kecak and fire dance show. The sunset combined with the fire dancers created a magical atmosphere, making it one of our trip’s highlights.

5. Discover Paradise with a Trip to Nusa Penida

Just a 30-minute boat ride from Sanur, Nusa Penida is Bali’s hidden paradise. If you love adventure and stunning natural beauty, this island will steal your heart. Popular spots on the west coast include the iconic Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, and Broken Beach, while the east coast features the breathtaking Diamond Beach and the dramatic Atuh Beach and the picture-perfect Rumah Pohon Treehouse—a dreamy spot with stunning views of the ocean and cliffs.

Most people say a day trip is enough, but we don’t agree! We stayed for 3 days—one day exploring the east and the other for the west. The island’s friendly locals and their incredible cooking made our visit even more special.

Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat because the sun here is relentless. Trust me, Nusa Penida is worth every moment of your time! Would you stay longer or make it a day trip?

6. Dive or Snorkel in Bali

Bali’s underwater world is a treasure trove of vibrant marine life and colorful coral reefs. If you’re a diving enthusiast, spots like Tulamben, Amed, and Padang Bai are perfect for exploring Bali’s stunning underwater ecosystems.

For those who prefer snorkeling, Manta Point offers an incredible chance to see Bali’s diverse marine life without the need for diving. The clear waters and abundant sea creatures make it a great way to enjoy Bali’s Ocean.

 7. Immerse Yourself in Ubud for 2-3 Days

Ubud is where Bali’s natural beauty and spiritual energy come together. Spending 2-3 days here feels like entering a different world—one filled with peace and calm. Explore the lush Tegallalang Rice Terraces, meet playful monkeys at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, and admire the beauty of Tegenungan Waterfall and Saraswati Temple.

When we visited, Ubud’s bohemian charm and serene vibe made it unforgettable. Wandering through local art markets, enjoying cozy cafes, and soaking in the spiritual energy felt so refreshing. Trust me, Ubud is the kind of place that touches your soul.

8. Visit Bali’s UNESCO Rice Terraces

The Tegallalang Rice Terraces were one of the most peaceful spots we encountered in Bali. The lush greenery during the rainy season was incredibly refreshing, and the views were truly picture-perfect. The terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for their stunning subak irrigation system, which dates back centuries.

While we didn’t visit the swings, many travelers enjoy them for a fun, adventurous photo opportunity with the terraces as a backdrop. The terraces are also a great place to learn about Bali’s farming culture and witness traditional rice farming techniques. It’s a must-visit if you’re near Ubud!

 9. Relax at Bali’s Iconic Beaches

Bali has beaches for every vibe, from lively to tranquil.

Uluwatu Beach was our absolute favorite. It’s not too crowded, the sand is pristine, and the restaurants serve amazing food. We spent hours here, soaking up the peaceful atmosphere.

For nightlife, Seminyak and Canggu are great spots, but Kuta can get too crowded and isn’t as clean.

Nusa Dua Beach is perfect for luxury and relaxation. We loved how clean it was, with soft white sand and calm waters. Plus, the nearby resorts make it so convenient.

The beaches in Nusa Penida, like Kelingking and Diamond Beach, are stunning. The hike down is challenging, but the stunning view at the bottom makes it all worth it (but the stunning view at the bottom is worth it). If you have knee or back issues, I wouldn’t recommend the descent, but the views alone are worth the trip.

10. Savor Balinese Food and Try a Cooking Class

Nasi Goreng, the taste of Balinese tradition

One of the best ways to experience Bali is through its delicious food! Don’t miss trying local favorites like Nasi Goreng, Satay, and Babi Guling. For an extra special experience, join a Balinese cooking class. It’s so much fun learning to cook traditional dishes with fresh, local ingredients.

During my trip, I joined a cooking class in Ubud, and it was an unforgettable way to connect with Balinese culture. You’ll enjoy a tasty meal, learn new skills, and take home memories to cherish forever! There are plenty of options available online to book a class in advance—platforms like Klook make it super convenient to find the perfect one for your trip.
